Protection of industrial and commercial secrets
A trade secret is defined as the possession of know-how, equipment, processes or important information not generally known.
The commercial secret must not be disclosed or revealed publicly but does not require a registration formality and its protection is not doomed to extinction after a specific lifespan. It is still quite a challenge to maintain its secrecy. Information related to trade secrets may be of a commercial, financial, industrial, technical or scientific nature. These may therefore be production methods, chemical formulas, industrial processes, customer or supplier lists, business or marketing plans, manufacturing techniques, particular recipes, commercial methods, or others, provided that these are not generally known in the industry, provide commercial value to the Company and are subject to reasonable efforts to be kept secret.
Our professionals will be able to advise you and help you take the necessary measures to protect these intellectual property assets both in Canada and abroad.
